The Farm
Cabbage Tree Flat is a 1,989 ha intensive breeding and finishing property running breeding ewes, trade lambs, and both breeding and finishing cattle. The farm has excellent limestone soils, strong infrastructure, and highly productive systems.
Located in Waimarama, Hawke’s Bay, the property sits just 30 minutes from Havelock North and 5 minutes from Waimarama Village—offering the rare combination of scale, performance, and coastal living.
The Role
We are seeking a shepherd who is motivated, keen to learn, reliable, and eager to contribute to a strong team culture. This role suits someone who enjoys stock work, takes pride in their dogs, and wants to grow their skills on a progressive farm.
You’ll be involved in day‑to‑day stock work across a large, varied property—ideal for someone wanting to develop their team and stockmanship.
The Skills
- Organised and tidy in work habits
- Honest and trustworthy with a strong sense of responsibility
- Energetic and good‑natured with a positive attitude
- Respect for livestock and equipment
- Minimum of two broken in working dogs
- High‑quality workmanship and pride in presentation
- Excellent communication skills, a good listener and quick learner
